You're Such an Inspiration for the Ways

That I Will Never Ever Choose to Be
build: petite
height: 5'4
weight: 113 lbs
eye color: blue
hair color: dirty blonde
appearance: Evie looks like a pretty average girl, doesn't she? Pasty skin, hay-color hair that she can do nothing with and has no personality on it's own. Fashion has never been a big deal for her, but that doesn't mean she's entirely out of the loop: a pair of well-fitting jeans and some kind of shirt that doesn't come in a poly-cotton blend and in the shape of a t have made up her wardrobe thus far. A secretary has to look somewhat professional, after all.

Oh So Many Ways for Me to Show You
personality: She tends to avoid human contact, disappearing from large gatherings at the most opportune time. Really, she's actually quite nice. What Evie wants more than anything else is to be loved, but due to the shit hand given to her in life, she keeps herself distant from everyone. So, she's considered shy and even phobic. She's been described as hermit, odd, and mousy.
strengths:
- She actually is quite tolerant of physical pain.
- That whole famine dealy. She has the ability to draw people's life force from them, making it seem like she's starved them to death.
- She's gotten quite quick over the years of dashing out of places.
- Evie's relatively level-headed in bad situations.
- Strong-willed in spite of being shy.
weaknesses:
- She can be tempted by promises of getting rid of her curse.
- Love. More than anything, she wants to be loved.
- She is human. She's breakable and killable.
- She gets angry very, very easily.
- She's actually quite naive.
fun facts: —
history: Evie's past isn't that traumatizing, but her life didn't have the greatest of starts, either. Her mother died giving birth to her, apparently too weak for birthing. Evie was an emergency c-section, born a little too early. It was under strange circumstances that her mother had died. Most pregnant women gain weight, but Margarete was actually slowly starving from the day that Evie was conceived, no matter how much she ate. Evie came to blame herself for this, explaining that it's for a 'good damn reason', but never explains more.
Her father was a simple man of simple tastes and, while Evie could always respect that, she had always wanted to see the world. So, she breezed through high school and got out of the house as soon as possible with a fond adieu. However, the world ended at New York City when, by a miscalculation on her part, she wound up in the Big Apple with enough cash for a shitty apartment and no way back home. So Evie settled in, figuring that it could be worse. She found a job at a local law firm as the cute secretary, answering phones and fending off pick-ups with a gentle demure. She says it's commitment issues, but she's actually just afraid that if she touches them, she'll kill them like she did her mother and several small house pets.
Evie has only gone to one person about her curse. It was a Catholic priest back in Denver, where she was born, and he didn't answer her question. He sent her away with a frantic prayer and mutterings about how the end was near. Evie has a fear — an almost-phobia — that the moment anyone finds out about her ability, she'll be dragged off and studied like a freak. However, the words the priest spoke to her as he was slowly pushing her out of the church have remained with her to this day. She thinks about them just before she tucks herself away each night in her little apartment in Asbury Plaza.
